Switch management: a few clicks, and the config is pushed.
Enter port state, VLAN, rate limits and ARP bindings in the web interface. DCIM translates them into vendor commands and pushes them to the switch, so nobody has to log in to each device and type commands.
Illustrative interface
Key capabilities
- 01
Multi-vendor command sets
Huawei, H3C, Cisco, Juniper, Dell, Ruijie and more work out of the box, with generic support for other models in each series.
- 02
Ports and VLANs
Enable or disable ports and change VLANs remotely, with port usage and uplinks on record.
- 03
Rate limits
Set separate inbound and outbound limits per port.
- 04
Automatic MAC binding
Server-side MACs are learned and bound automatically, so re-cabling needs no manual tracing.
Command sets: teaching DCIM to speak every switch
Every vendor has its own command syntax. Toplink DCIM ships a command set for each vendor and series, a translation guide for that family of switches. When you add a switch and choose its vendor and model, the matching command set is attached, and every automated action is translated into concrete commands through it.
Each series has two kinds of entries: specific models tested by our engineers (for example Huawei S5720S-52X-LI-AC, Huawei CE6870-48S6CQ-EI, H3C S9810 and Juniper EX3300-48t), and a generic support entry that other models in the same series can use.
| Vendor | Series | Protocols |
|---|---|---|
| Huawei | S series, CE series | SSH, Telnet, SNMP |
| H3C | S series | SSH, Telnet, SNMP |
| Cisco | IOS, NX-OS | SSH, Telnet, SNMP |
| Juniper | EX, QFX | SSH, NETCONF, SNMP |
| Dell | S series | SSH, Telnet, SNMP |
| Ruijie | SE series | SSH, Telnet, SNMP |
Command sets for Arista, Ruckus, ZTE and other vendors are also included. SNMP is used for read-only collection only.
Port-level actions
From a server’s or switch’s detail page you can, for each port:
- Enable or disable the port, typically to suspend and restore overdue customers;
- Change the VLAN, from 0 to 4095;
- Set inbound and outbound rate limits in Mbps;
- Edit the port description to match the server label.
The server list shows which switch port each machine is connected to, along with port speed and VLAN, so port usage and uplinks are always visible.
Protection
- ARP binding: locks IP to MAC on the switch so addresses cannot be hijacked;
- Source guard: only traffic whose source IP belongs to the port is forwarded, and spoofed packets are dropped;
- Automatic MAC binding: server-side MAC addresses are learned and bound automatically.
A switch console in the browser
When you need to troubleshoot by hand, open an SSH or Telnet session to the switch right in the browser. As with server consoles, switch sessions are recorded in full with a command log, ready for audits.
Switch management
What if my switch model is not listed?
Choose the generic support entry for the same vendor series and it reuses that series' command set.
Which protocols are used to push configuration?
Configuration is pushed over SSH or Telnet by default, and SNMP is used for read-only collection. Juniper devices also support NETCONF.
Is the original port speed restored after a limit is lifted?
Yes. DCIM records the port's original speed when it applies a limit and restores it when the limit is removed.
